Centre for Emerging Sciences, Engineering & Technology (CESET) 

is instituting Fully-funded scholarships in the name of Late Arfa Karim. 05 Arfa Karim Scholarships will be awarded to the meritorious students applying in its BS Software Engineering Program commencing from 22nd February, 2012. These scholarships are purely based on merit and equal opportunity. The scholarship committee comprises of senior researchers and academicians, will finalize the results and announce the awards. The eligibility to these scholarships is at least 80% marks in F.Sc. or equivalent and its continuation will be subjected to the consistent performance of the students in higher semesters, as per CESET's policies. CESET is a National Project of Science & Engineering Trust (SET). The Centre is established in 2011 in the heart of Islamabad (in the vicinity of International Islamic University, NUST and NESCOM) with a mission to create knowledge economy in special reference to the national needs. The vision of the Centre is focused on Human Resource Development for the broader objectives and scope of the Science & Engineering Trust. For the purpose, CESET aims to focus to bridging the gap between existing undergraduate and graduate education particularly in inter- and cross disciplinary programs in disciplines related to emerging sciences, engineering and allied management.

Currently over 30 PhDs are associated with the Centre on permanent and adjunct basis in Five broader areas, namely, Applied Radiation Physics, Material Science & Nanotechnology, Telecommunication Engineering, Advanced Electronics & Controls and Engineering Management. CESET's academic programs are in affiliation with prestigious and reputed public sector universities along with collaborative linkages with top-ranked foreign universities.

Pakistan Post to Issue Memorial Ticket for Arfa Karim

Pakistan Post has planned to issue a special ticket stamp to commemorate Arfa Karim, once the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional, who passed away fighting a serious medical situation at 16 in Lahore this month.

Ticket stamp will be unveiled in Islamabad on February 2nd, 2012 in a ceremony on the occasion of birthday of Arfa Karim.

Along with officials from Pakistan Post, government, MNCs, it is likely that ceremony will be joined by Arfa Karim’s parents and two young brothers who will unveil the stamp issued on Arfa Karim by Pakistan Post.

Arfa Karim, the teenage genius suffered an attack on that which had given her recognition and made her a source of inspiration for young and old across the country – her brain.

Arfa had an epileptic attack on December 22 and had been in a coma till the day she died on January 13th, 2012, while well-wishers prayed and watched her progress closely. She was suffering from idiopathic epilepsy seizures which led to brain damage.

Arfa had received presidential award along with various other recognitions. She also remained brand ambassador for PTCL.

Yes we have another pride, another youngest talented MCP - Microsoft Certified Professional. Arfa Karim's death made us bursting into tears but now another youngest innocent angel of Pakistan is making a new history and giving back the pride.

 

Aruba Rao, who belongs to a very well educated family of Sargodha Punjab, is another young Pakistani student and computer prodigy who at the age of eleven years became Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).

 

Pakistan’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Aruba Rao is also learning web designing and has developed the web site NewsTimePakista.com. Her own webpage is ArubaRao.com.

 

She hails from a highly educated family of Sargodha, Punjab. Her father Ahmed Faraz Rao (farazrao.com) is Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and serving in Sindh Police. Aruba Rao is the niece of Rao Nafasat Jamil, Editor Daily Jang Lahore, Miss Ghazala Rao, Professor Air Base Inter College Sargodha and Miss Uzma Rao, Professor Army Public School & College Sargodha Cantt.

 

Her elder brother Shahnawaz Rao and sister Sara Rao are also Microsoft Certified. Her grandfather Rao Jameel-ur-Rehman (of Phularwan, District Sargodha) served as gazetted officer in various Departments under Provincial Government.

 

Arfa Karim Randhawa was really the pride of Pakistan. But very soon, we lost her. Now Aruba Rao in the news and going on the top. She is another MCP from Pakistan and tells the world that we are the best.
